WELCOME TO

Renewable Energy Association of Eswatini (REAESWA)

REAESWA was established in 1998 under an EU-funded project (The Southern African Renewable Energy Information Network-SAREIN). REAESWA is an independent organization and collaborates closely with several government departments.

Its mission is to work towards ensuring there are favourable conditions for scaling up clean energy technologies in the country and advocating for sustainable use of renewable energy technologies at all societal groups.

REAESWA is committed to the promotion and use of these technologies with Eswatini. REAESWA has also proven to be a good vehicle to get sustainable energy projects implemented on the ground.

Eswatini Renewable Energy Sources

Solar Energy	Eswatini receives 4-6kWh/m² solar radiation per day. Multiple small privately owned solar plants exist.	1010 MW commercial potential
Hydro Energy	Main domestic energy source. Four grid-connected plants: • Maguga: 19.8 MW • Maguduza: 5.6 MW • Ezulwini: 20 MW • Edwaleni: 15 MW	60.4 MW total installed
Biomass Energy	Sources include: • Firewood • Bagasse from sugar industry • Wood chips from timber industry	Timber and sugarcane/bagasse are key potential sources
Wind Energy	Studies have identified potential wind power sites across the country.	17 potential zones identified
